About our Winery & Winemaker

Tanis Vineyards is located in Amador County just below the Shenandoah Foothills. We are a very small, premium wine producer with a minimal production, which allows winemaker Andrew to lovingly tend his vines and wines to ensure optimum quality. To Andrew, winemaking is much more than a science; it is also an art...

"He who works with his hands is a laborer.

He who works with his hands and head is a craftsman.

He who works with his hands, and head, and heart is an artist."

~ St. Francis Assisi

From our Life

Vines that endure harsh conditions produce exceptional wines, much as life’s hardships produce character and strength. Tanis Vineyards began as an intimidating patch of poison oak, yet through perseverance and hard work it is now a fruitful vineyard! Early on, Andrew lost his wedding ring in the vineyard while hand pressing grapes. The ring was never found. Our label art is a symbolic reminder that although in life there is loss, the important things endure forever: Faith, Hope and Love. And we’ve found in life that when one thing is lost, often something even more valuable is gained . . .

Remain in the vine, and may your life be fruitful!
